Fanning Howey Hires New Project Manager, Strengthening Educational Design Leadership in Michigan
By Zachary SprungerFerndale, Michigan, December 3, 2024 – Fanning Howey, an architecture, interiors and engineering firm specializing in learning environments, is strengthening its commitment to innovating learning environments with the addition of Joel Galanty, AIA, to its Ferndale, Mich. office. As Project Manager, Galanty will lead K-12 and higher education projects, drawing on his extensive expertise to enhance project delivery and design excellence.
With more than 30 years of architectural experience across education, public safety, residential and government sectors, Galanty brings a unique blend of versatility and client-focused leadership to his role. His career includes major educational projects in Michigan such as Holt High School (361,000 square-foot, two-story facility), Portage High School (three-story, 220,000 square-foot) and Allendale Elementary School (two-story, 106,000 square-foot facility).
He has also managed complex projects such as the historic Willy’s Overland Lofts in Mid-Town Detroit, a $55M, 160,000 square-foot condominium development, reflecting his commitment to creating spaces that serve Michigan’s diverse communities.

Galanty is NCARB-certified, holding active architectural licenses in Michigan and Florida. He earned his Master of Architecture and Bachelor of Architecture degrees from the University of Detroit Mercy. He is an active member of the American Institute of Architects, where he has contributed to the organization’s mentoring network and served on the House Tour Committee.
