The K-12 Business Development Manager will be responsible for developing new K-12 client relationships and fortifying existing client relationships with K-12 leaders in Michigan to add school projects and services revenue growth for Fanning Howey. This individual will proactively manage and lead targeted business development activities.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work in collaboration National Director of Business Development, Director of Marketing, Project Executives, leadership, and other business units to identify, qualify, and position Fanning Howey for opportunities aligning with key services and strategic plan
  • Build, activate, and manage targeted prospects resulting in pursuit wins and new fees
  • Position Fanning Howey services to A/E firms and other A/E/C consultants
  • Actively research project opportunities through networking, personal relationships, cold calling, reading of industry publications, attending community events/conferences and participating in industry-related organizations
  • Build an ongoing strategic prospect or priority target list
  • Lead the coordination of introductory meetings with prospective clients to company experts
  • Assist in assembling and briefing the pursuit team to ensure all client requirements are met
  • Work with marketing to assist with proposal development, project team resources, and deliverables
  • Assist marketing with preparing the project team for a successful interview

Minimum & Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, Construction or related technical field of study is required
  • 5+ years of experience in business development/marketing within A/E/C professional services firm or A/E/C business-to-business environment.
  • Experience with publicly-funded project design/construction procurement process and project delivery methods
  • Knowledge of long-term sales cycle of A/E/C professional services
  • Demonstrated experience in tracking and managing a wide range of project leads, focusing on follow-through win strategy, and closure
  • Advanced skills at building and managing client relationships
  • Experience developing and delivering presentations
  • Preferred experience using CRM software
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
