Perry Elementary School earns LEED Silver Certification
ByPerry Elementary School earned LEED® Silver certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is the rating system adopted by the USGBC to recognize sustainable and high performing buildings.
“Our building’s energy-efficient strategies are part of how Perry Local Schools is striving toward a brighter future,” says Omer Schroeder, district superintendent. “The design solutions employed by our architect, Fanning Howey, are resulting in better learning environments for our students and reduced operating costs for our taxpayers.”
The new Perry Elementary School includes a Variable Air Volume Reheat system, high-efficiency condensing-type boilers and a high-performance building envelope with triple-pane windows. Much of the building is comprised of high recycled-content materials, as well as materials produced within 500 miles of Lima, Ohio.
Fanning Howey representatives will present the LEED Silver certification plaque to officials of Perry Local Schools at the February 21st Board of Education meeting.
